Hello! My first post {I guess this is really happening}!

EEEkkkk!! Here I go with my first post! I am not going to lie, I am nervous {mostly} and excited about doing this {is anyone going to read this besides my husband, sister, and best friend?}. I have been thinking of starting a style blog for a while but just had it out there as a dream, an idea. At 36 years young, I feel a fire in my belly to do this. I am feeling more confident with who I am. I am feeling more driven and motivated than I have in a long time, so what the heck, let’s give it a try to see if anything becomes of it. Life is too short to sit around wondering – let’s go!!!

WELCOME to ‘Not your Plain Sarah Jane!’ A little space out here on this thing called ‘the web’ where I hope to connect with you through the one thing that I have always had a passion for – FASHION! For as long as I can remember I have loved clothing. I was the ten-year-old at Christmas who loved getting clothes rather than toys. I enjoy helping people put outfits together as I have worked countless retail jobs, including an internship at Nordstrom to feed my soul of this great love!

I have been busy generating ideas on posts as you can search notyourplainsarahjane.com and see. I plan to focus on four categories; style, beauty, lifestyle {may include topics such events around town, fitness, and recipes}, and children. I have been busy learning how to create a blog, yes, even entering some code {quite the learning curve for this mama}! Thank goodness my husband is in software as he has been quite helpful. Thus far, I have really enjoyed putting all of this together, and I hope you like it.

Now let’s talk a little bit about why you might follow along, my style! My style is overall classic, while incorporating the current trends and you may see a touch of boho. I do have some designer pieces in my wardrobe, but most of what I wear is not expensive {hello stay at home mom of two} and I rarely pay full price for anything.

My hope with this little slice of the internet is to inspire you! I know it’s time consuming to shop and many woman aren’t picking up magazines any longer to stay current with fashion, but they are seeing pictures on Facebook and Instagram and becoming inspired that way. I want to get on this bandwagon and be one of those resources for you! I want to inspire you to try a new trend, teach you a new way to wear a scarf, or gain the courage to try a brighter lipstick. If I inspire you in any way by following Not Your Plain Sarah Jane, I am achieving what I have set out to do. I am a firm believer you have to look good to feel good and so much of that comes from ones personal style.

AND… just because you are seeing posed and staged pictures of me that look like my life is perfect, organized and not chaotic – IT’S NOT! I am a mother to two children. Lizzy, my six-year-old daughter, and Thomas my three-year-old son. I chase them around, have messes around my house, usually am not wearing makeup, and I’m most often running around in some type of athleisure. So, please, don’t let the pictures fool you – I promise we are probably a lot alike trying to get through each day.

Let’s learn how to do this blog thing together. I will be asking you for ideas on what you want me to feature and post and if there is anything I can help you with as far as your personal style, please send me an email. I will be posting frequently on Instagram and Facebook but if that’s not your jam, please subscribe to  Not Your Plain Sarah Jane  and we’ll keep in touch that way.  Once again welcome, and thank you so much for reading!  Make it a great day!
