Sweater Buying Tips:
‘Tis the season to gravitate toward that cozy and warm sweater! I could wear a different sweater every day with jeans and call that my fall and winter uniform. I am VERY picky when it comes to sweaters. There are so many to choose from making it hard to narrow it down. It’s also hard to NOT buy a new one every week {there are just too many good options}. To make it easy, as you’re shopping for a new sweater or two, I am leaving my favorites all in one place for you.
- Fabric – ONLY buy sweaters made of materials you love. I personally don’t own any sweaters with wool. They are beautiful, but too itchy and I don’t reach for them on a regular basis.
- Variety – Create a sweater collection with varying lengths and neck types. Think shorter sweaters for a front tuck and longer for leggings. Mockneck, turtleneck, or a crewneck all create different looks and styling possibilities – have a variety to build your wardrobe.
- Color – Invest in some higher-end neutral color sweaters (cream, black, grey, tan). These colors make a great cold-weather staple. Add scarves, jewelry, vests, or jackets to change up looks.
Cropped Mock Sweater
This sweater is an absolute favorite sweater of mine. Yes, it’s cashmere {a little more pricey}, but actually a great price point. It’s is as soft as a cloud and easy to throw on with joggers or jeans. The shorter style makes it perfect for a little tuck (or not). I wear this alone or love to layer it under a plaid blazer too.
Not a fan of a turtleneck? Here’s an almost identical option with a crew neck.
**Since writing this post this exact sweater is no longer available. Linking a very similar sweater.
Both of these styles come in multiple colors. Runs large, size down.

Mock Tunic
The perfect sweater to wear with leggings (all about that these days), but also looks great with jeans. This sweater is more of a sweatshirt material as it’s mostly cotton (no itchiness here!). It’s stretchy and so comfy. I absolutely love the funnel neck.
Multiple colors available (the color I have is no longer available). Size down one size.

Cashmere Crew Neck
I received this sweater as a gift last Christmas {John picked it out all by himself!}. It’s my most versatile sweater – long enough to wear with leggings, but I can tuck it in too. Easily dress it up or down depending on the shoes and accessories paired with this sweater. I reach for this sweater multiple times a week. A neutral color for this sweater makes a GREAT basic! A little pricer, but consider the price per wear.
Multiple colors available, runs large size down.

Free People Sweetheart Sweater
This cotton sweater has a really pretty knit pattern on it. The hem is a high-low, lower in the front than the back. No surprise it has a low mock neck – I love that style. It’s not itchy at all because of the cotton fabric, and the price point is fab, $78.
Multiple colors available, wearing a small.

Simple Cotton Sweater
This is new to my closet this fall. It’s simple and I really like the chunky knit and neck. For really cold days, you probably will want to layer a top under this sweater. It’s more of a crop fit. Because of the loose knit, it will stretch out with wear.
Comes in multiple colors. Runs large, size down.

Longline Cardigan
Cardigans are a great way to layer up! Having a simple cardigan in a neutral color allows for so many outfits to be made. I’ve had this one for a couple of years and reach for it constantly. The fine-rib knit and neck detail are my favorite parts of this cardi.
Comes in multiple colors, runs true to size.

This is the must-have sweater of 2020! It’s kind of like wearing a robe, but it acceptable to go out in! It’s a cozy chenille fabric and so soft. It makes a GREAT gift for any woman in your life. Pairs easily with jeans, ponte pants, or leggings.
