The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is quickly approaching and it’s my favorite sale of the year! What makes this sale so unique is they bring in BRAND NEW fall fashion and accessories at a discounted price. I love the sale not only for saving a little money on a few fresh fall and winter items, but also to see the trends and fashion for the upcoming season.
We’re not talking about a 10-15% discount either, it’s usually around 40% off. Yep! It’s a good chunk of change to save. Along with new fall fashion, Nordstrom also discounts some all-time favorite items like the Barefoot Dreams Blankets, Voluspa Candles, and basics like bras and underwear.
Let’s face it, this sale is popular! I spent four summers working at Nordstrom and this sale is Nordstrom’s Super Bowl. It’s gained a lot of popularity and it can be a little tricky to shop. With a little insider information and a lot of experience, I hope to guide you through the sale with some of these shopping tips.
When is the sale?
Here are the dates to know. Based on your Nordstrom credit card annual spending, shopping dates differ. Log into your Nordstrom account to check your current status and Anniversary Sale shopping date.
- July 6: Early Access for cardmembers with Icon status.
- July 7: Early Access for cardmembers with Ambassador status.
- July 9: Early Access for cardmembers with Influencer status.
- July 15: Anniversary Sale opens to the general public.
How to shop the sale
I am by no means a person to push credit cards, but if you do want to shop this sale and have better chances of getting items you really want, a NordstromCredit Card Card is key. You can apply for a Nordstrom card here. Subject to approval you will get a $60 credit after you shop, called a Nordstrom Note. I use my Nordstrom card for all clothing purchases and rack up notes throughout the year. It’s not a bad deal if you’re a shopper.

The ABSOLUTE key to shopping this sale, is to BUY when you see your item available. Purchase the item, have it sent to you and try it. If you don’t love it, send it back or return locally at Nordstrom Rack. Things go really fast and you have to have mentality with this sale.
What I buy during the Anniversary Sale
I have been shopping this sale for over 25 years. It all started as a back-to-school shopping trip when I was growing up. Now, I like to attempt to get a few fall fashion items if they really look awesome. Think jackets, blazers, leather. Shoes are also fabulous prices during the sale and if there is a style I need or have been eyeing this sale is the time to make that purchase. Socks, underwear, and bras are always good basics to refresh during the sale as are a few beauty items like this body wash and lotion that is never on sale. I also look for outerwear for the kids – name-brand coats and shoes are a great value for the kids too.
Final Thoughts
It’s a SALE! Don’t get bent out of shape if an item you really want sells out. I look at this sale as a bonus if I get awesome items at a sale price. I truly only buy things I love. I don’t buy just because it’s on sale – therefore a BONUS if I get it at a discounted price. 99% of these items will be re-stocked at regular prices by September or October, if you are still dreaming of something, you can probably get it at full price at a later date. Many of the Nordstrom-owned brands offer these sale prices multiple times a year, so it’s really not the end of the world. Shopping is meant to be fun, not stressful! Have fun with it! I love seeing all the beautiful new fall fashion – my favorite time of year to dress for.
