Monday Montage

Coming off of our spring break, and a beautiful Easter weekend it certainly feels like spring is here to stay. I think I’ll do the final wash of our winter gear today – I don’t like to jinx anything by getting it put away too early! We spent a short bit of our time off in Minneapolis visiting family and I was happy to do some in-person shopping {it’s so nice to have a built-in babysitter with grandpa}.

I haven’t done much in-person shopping for clothing in about a year. I ventured to the Mall of America {my old stomping grounds as I grew up in the Minneapolis area and worked at Nordstrom for a few college years}. I truly love shopping in person. There’s something about SEEING the trends, the outfits paired together, and trying multiple styles/sizes before making a purchase. I really didn’t really have luck in terms of clothing or shoes, but still fun. I refilled some makeup, browsed accessories, and tried on quite a few things. I did find a swimsuit which is always good!

  • I tried on a ton of suits while shopping. I don’t NEED a new suit, but when you find one that works, you buy it. Finding a swimsuit is all about trying on various styles to see if one works. For me, it was this miracle swimsuit that hit all my needs! I spend nearly every day of the summer at a neighborhood pool with the kids. I’m looking for a suit that’s family-friendly, comfortable, stylish, and I feel good in. I’m modest, I wear a size 10 in suits and need bust support. I was skeptical of trying this suit as it’s too “old,” but I put it on and really thought it was sophisticated, flattering, chic, and it made me feel good. If you have curves, larger bust, check out these suits! I have a couple two pieces but I was really on the hunt for something more full coverage that was good for hanging out with the kids at the pool. This brand of suits comes in extended sizing and you can shop by bra cup size. They are an investment, but a classic suit you’ll have for years. Here are some of my favorites from this brand (tankini and one-pieces):

  • In the photo above, I paired this coverup skirt in white, over my suit. It looks so much better in person than online – I love the texture.
  • I have a few tried and true favorite swim pieces I’ve had for years like these black high waist bottoms that I pair with various tops. They are full coverage, the ruching conceals tummy, they don’t have seams that dig into your butt, and are REALLY comfortable. For $58, you can’t go wrong.
  • I tried on this top with these high waist bottoms as I adore the style and asymmetrical tops are the trend. However, no support in this suit at all! Super soft and silky fabric, but I definitely need some hold in power on the bottom and some support on top. The suit is really cute and a great feeling – just not for me.
  • Kortnie Jeane brand was recommended by my friend a while ago. I purchased this style of top two years ago in a fun print and pair it with my black bottoms. Really comfortable and again, mom-friendly. I tell friends about this site all the time! Their styles are great for nursing moms and larger busts too!

This turned into a mini swim post, but it’s a highly popular topic! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Thank you, as always, for reading and make it a great day!
