Not Your Plain Sarah Jane is a style and lifestyle blog of me, Sarah. I am a Midwest girl that for as long as I can remember has had a passion for fashion. My name is plain, Sarah Jane, but my style is not!
My overall style is classic while incorporating current trends with a sprinkle of boho. I have some investment pieces in my wardrobe and some very affordable items (hello Target and H&M!). My fashion favorites are a good bracelet stack, lipstick, stripes, adding a scarf to any look, and a fresh manicure. I also can’t resist a good sale, deal, and find, like so many of you!
I took my love of fashion to the streets when I was 17 working at Nordstrom in the Mall of America. Instantly, I loved the Nordstrom Company and worked there for many years, leading to an internship. I styled women and men, as well as learned the behind–the scenes world of fashion and retail. It was an amazing expereince.
I married my high school sweetheart and life took many twists and turns. From Minneapolis, to Chicago, I now reside in Madison, Wisconsin. It’s not exactly the place I thought I would end up, but you know, it really has grown on me and I am proud and happy to call Madison ‘home’ for the last 12 years.
My idea to start Not Your Plain Sarah Jane came to fruition as I found myself repeatedly sharing my recent purchases with friends and family. Not Your Plain Sarah Jane is a place I want the everyday woman to come for inspiration to look and feel their best. Take your time, look around, and please stay for a bit! Perhaps I’ll inspire you to try a brighter lipstick, change your purse for a night out, or try a jumpsuit. I am a true believer that when you look good, you feel good, and with that attitude you can take on anything.
When I am not blogging, I am busy doing my most important job, being a mom to my two greatest accomplishments, my daughter, Lizzy (8), and son, Thomas (5), spending time with family and friends, and hitting the gym in an attempt to stay in shape. After a long day you can find me with my feet up, Tennis Channel on in the background, a glass wine in hand, searching for the latest trends, deals, and my next purchase!
