I started the year fancy – sharing sequin, a beautiful evening gown for an event, makeup to create the perfect smokey eye all to have the pendulum swing the complete other direction – casual. Loungewear, slippers, and self-care at home were really what 2020 was all about from a fashion and beauty perspective.
I love diving into stats for the year to see what you all REALLY loved. Here are the top 10 items featured on Not Your Plain Sarah Jane!
Top 10 Featured Items on NYPSJ
10. Bronzing Drops – Add to your foundation for a bit of bronze
9. Lounge Set. Top, Bottoms – To date, my favorite set bought this year. French Terry, not too warm, and just really comfy.
8. Lantern Light Fixture – We have this in our mud room and it’s so great for the price.
7. Super Skinny High Rise Jeans in Black – My most worn pair of jeans in my closet this year. So flattering, stretch for comfort, and the price is so good.
6. Longest Lash Mascara – I didn’t want to love this, but I do! Growth serum glides on easily and gives so much length.
5. Combat Style Waterproof Boots – Very practical for the winter. Stylish, warm, comfortable, and your feet stay dry! A must for a midwest winter.
4. Ribbed Tank Top – THE BEST tank to wear alone or layering. It’s $8 and you know what, because it’s in stock, I’m ordering some now! A closet essential!
3. Curvy Toothpick Jean – Another incredibly flattering pair of jeans. Made for a woman with thighs and a booty – they fit like a glove.
2. Running Shoe – sold out in black (the color I have), but great shoes to wear with your loungewear and athleisure. Can’t beat the price!
<drumroll>……….
#1. Silk Pillowcase – No surprise here! I absolutely love mine. This brand is the original maker of silk pillowcases. It’s recommended by dermatologists, hairdressers, and plastic surgeons. Keeps hair from creasing and knotting at night and won’t absorb your expensive facial or hair products {keep them where they belong, on you, not your pillow}. Plus, I find mine is nice and cool which is refreshing to fall asleep on.

Along with sharing these top items from major retailers, I had the honor of working with a local shop, LMC Boutique, and launched my very first collection of clothing and accessories. To say this was a dream is an understatement. To say it was my most successful business venture this year is the truth. I was completely blown away by your response and support. It was truly the BEST way to end the year.

Personal styling appointments were really picking up right before the world crashed. I truly love working one on one with women. I know for some curating your closet and finding the right pieces can be a daunting task. I look forward to helping you in your home once I’m not ‘teacher’ mom during the days and it’s a little safer for home visits.
Thank you
Each year as I round up the top items and create this post, I mostly am reflecting how thankful I am for each of you. Thank you for following on social media. Your comments, likes, and shares mean the world and keep me going when I {sometimes} feel like I am talking to the air.
This year was a challenge as a mother trying to do it all. I know so many of you are in the same boat. While I didn’t accomplish all that I had set out to do, I did what I could. Reflecting, it was a lot considering all the hats I wore full time π
Thank you so much for being here. Looking forward to another great year with you!

I would be lost in fashion without you! My favorite this year is the Abercrombie sweatshirt I even ordered a back up because itβs my go to! I also wore those jean cut offs every day past summer. So looking forward to seeing the 2021 fashion! Thank you for all of this. Xo
Thank you so much, Catherine!! I was thinking I need a backup of that sweatshirt too!! Happy New Year!!
